A skatepark on the edge of the village, modernised in 2020 and the meeting point for skaters in the Achental valley. Obstacles and ramps for skateboards, scooters, BMX, inline skates and roller skates. Open daily 10 am–8 pm, with a midday quiet period from 12–3 pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Learn to fly in the Alps! The German alpine gliding school offers training, taster flights and information for visitors. A once-in-a-lifetime experience with views over the Chiemgau mountains.

Watching the gliders soar above the valley is simply part of Marquartstein for us.

A 3.1 km winding toboggan run down the Hochplatte! 437 vertical metres of pure adrenaline through the mountain forest. Ride the chairlift up in comfort or walk to the top station. Sledges can be hired at the valley station. Around 20 minutes of downhill fun!

A bike shop with workshop and rental right in Marquartstein – handy when your own bike stays at home. Best to call ahead about e-bike availability.

Hire of trekking bikes, e-trekking bikes and e-mountain bikes – the ideal base for the Achental loop or the climb up to the mountain pasture huts.

More than 200 sport-climbing routes across almost every grade on the sunny wall up to 80 m high – one of the largest sport-climbing areas in south-east Bavaria, with a short approach. Loose rock in places: helmet recommended.

Raft through the spectacular Entenlochklamm gorge: the Kössen–Ettenhausen stretch (white water grade I–II) is suitable for families and beginners too – several operators start from Kössen.

Float above the Achental valley: the Unterberghorn in Kössen is one of the best-known flying sites in the Alps, with several tandem operators; the Süddeutsche Gleitschirmschule paragliding school in Unterwössen offers tandem flights too.

Europe's first cross-border 18-hole course: 12 holes in Bavaria, 6 in Tyrol, at 750 m altitude between the Kaisergebirge and the Chiemgau Alps. Visiting players are welcome daily (with registration and proof of handicap).

One of Bavaria's oldest golf clubs (founded 1961) – 18 holes, par 72, with views of Lake Chiemsee and the Alpine chain.

Five clay courts in season from around April to October – visiting players are welcome by arrangement; it's best to enquire via the tennis section's website.
